IC INFORMATIONCharacter Name: Ouroboros ("O.B.") (was aka A.D.Doug in his original timeline, pre-TVA)
Species: Human, presumably
one never knows with comicbook mediaCanon: Marvel Cinematic Universe, though currently only residing in Loki (TV)
Canon Point: Before the first spaghettification of Timely.
Character Age: Technically probably late 40s/early 50s. That's his actor's age. Although he's been at the TVA for a very indefinite amount of time (we're told he hasn't had a visitor for like 400 years) so. It's complicated.
CRAU: No
CRAU Explanation: N/A
Character Appearance: Short man of southeast Asian descent. Dark hair, medium skin tone, dark eyes. Wears glasses with thick black rims. Arrives dressed in a jumpsuit like the kind an engineer or tech may wear. Expressive, friendly face.
Powers and Abilities: OB was a theoretical physicist and science fiction author in a previous life, before he was a variant and arrived at the TVA. Since being employed at the TVA, he has written the handbook of information on all the devices and systems operating the organization. He has also invented/created much of what is there, or enhanced upon what Victor Timely devised. His ability to fix or make the thing they need is nothing short of miraculous.
What Did Your Character Wish For? To be well-recognized, well-liked, and respected for his work, and to write a bestseller. (Don't @ me about not wishing for the temporal loom to all be set to rights. That's an immediate concern, but not a long-standing wish)
What Potion Did They Receive? Elemental magic. Electric Boogaloo, so he can make gadgets and eventually power them.
Did They Drink It? Yes
Character Questions:1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most? OB is kind of an odd duck. I think he likes them all, wants to be considered part of the team, but would probably miss Loki and Mobius the most, despite working closest with Casey and Timely. We don't really see him with anyone else, and we hear about a wife who left AD, but never see her.
2. What are they most afraid of?OB has very normal fears, like of the death of the space-time continuum and multiverse, and those are very pressing and timely concerns. But I suspect on a more human level, he fears that his work is going to go unnoticed, that he will be forgotten and not respected. He's a very positive character. But he's shown living/working alone in his previous life, despite apparently having a wife. In that life, he is a failed author. The bookstore will not even accept his books on their shelve for free. He's alone again in the basement of the TVA working very hard to keep systems running, and no one ever visits him ...except by accident. There are items in the set of his TVA workroom that suggest the hunters and agents may have sent things through the tubes in efforts to prank him. He is positive, upbeat, and nice. So he doesn't show that as a fear or insecurity. But I think he wants to be part of the team and wants to be included; he wants to have friends. I also think that's probably why he likes Loki--Loki actually does acknowledge OB's skills, even if he doesn't understand himself.
3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically? OB is a secondary character, so we don't get a ton of insight into what makes him tick in the same way we do with the more main cast. However, I think one of his weaknesses is also his strength: OB comes off as very happy and upbeat. Even when he's like "We're gonna die!" he's still somewhat upbeat about it. He was fairly straightforward and calls out the fact that Mobius
didn't mean to be there and
didn't stay and chat in his past visit, but he does so in a way that is blunt without being mean. I think that upbeat attitude masks the hurt that being ignored and forgotten and overlooked causes. Does anyone even READ his TVA handbook??? Physically, he's only human and he's relatively short and slight. He has glasses, which he presumably needs and without which, there is no telling what he can or cannot see. Otherwise, he's fairly resilient. OB has seen some shit and is well aware of the dangers of his job.
4. What would make them happiest? Please tell him you have read his book (The TVA Handbook) and that you like and appreciate (and use) it. Please be his friend.
5. What’s their type for a lover? We're told OB as A.D.Doug had a wife and that the wife left him in the year or so that he worked on a makeshift tempad for Loki. But aside from that little comment, which could be read slightly bitter, he rolls with it. I don't think a lover is all that high on OB's list, really. He values his work and his knowledge.
